At the heart of every Jedi experience is the lightsaber. More than any other characteristic, the light saber distinguishes the Jedi as a master of the force. Different styles of the weapon reflect the personality and skill of the one who fashioned it. All lightsabers have a polished steel handle or hilt, which projects an intense, narrow beam of energy about a yard in length.
Lightsabers have a distinctive sound associated with the energy blade that changes in pitch and intensity as the weapon is maneuvered to fend off an attack. The actual sound effect was created by holding a microphone down the back of a television set.
Numerous colors of lightsabers are available that will appeal to every future Jedi knight or Sith Lord. The dark side is everywhere, the Jedi must be prepared.
